THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER!
After much deliberation and lengthy conference calls, the Texas Jail Association Board of Directors have decided it is in the best interest of our Association to cancel the Jail Management Issues Conference scheduled for September 11 thru 14, 2017 in Galveston, Texas. No one could have predicted the devastation that would come in the days to follow Hurricane Harvey. Being an association made of first responders and public servants, you can understand the impact this devastating storm has had on our Association. Many of our members are assisting in the rescue efforts, have family members affected, or are in need of assistance themselves. Hosting a conference at this time is not the most prudent thing for the Texas Jail Association to do. We must redirect our focus to helping those in need. Sitting poolside with a drink, while residents of 58 counties are struggling to find food, water, shelter, clothing and basic necessities is not something the Texas Jail Association is willing to do.
We hope that you will be understanding during this unprecedented time and know that canceling the conference is the last thing we wanted to do.
Todd Allen
TJA President
